Quick stovetop beverage for winter weather
2 cups milk, ideally whole milk
1 scant tablespoon cocoa powder
1 heaping tablespoon granulated sugar
handful of mini marshmallows, for topping (optional)
Put the milk, sugar, and cocoa powder in a small saucepan. Over medium-low heat, stir and break up lumps of cocoa powder using a wooden spoon or a rubber spatula, until the hot chocolate reaches your ideal temperature. Pour into mugs and sprinkle mini marshmallows on top, if desired. This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled in a larger saucepan.
